Forecasting impacts of climate change on Iberian biodiversity

Iberia Change

Continental Spain and Portugal holds more than 50% of the European biodiversity. Some of this biodiversity is now threatened by climate change and habitat modification. Can such impacts be anticipated and mitigated?

Iberia change is a major research project between the Portuguese and Spanish government agencies – the Portuguese component is funded by EDP -, investigating the likely future impacts of climate change on Iberian biodiversity over the next 100 years. The project constitutes the world’s first transnational initiative to help design common strategies to mitigate impacts of climate change on biodiversity.
